5 Minutes to Clean a Bathroom, Part 1

The idea of having to set aside an entire day to fully clean my bathroom makes me so unmotivated, especially when I think of all of the things I need and want to get done! But what’s a girl to do since I’ve neglected cleaning it for a while, due to my other responsibilities (meal prep, chores, job, school, family, etc.)

Now I clean my bathroom quickly during and after my shower. Takes me no more than 5 minutes, here’s how!

This saves me so much time and keeps my bathroom sparkling in-between regular full cleanings. I do it when I am about to take my daily shower, usually on a weekend morning. But you can do it any day that you are taking a regular daily shower (not a “shower-shower” LOL! Anyone who knows me, knows that showers are sacred to me and I LUXURIATE in the shower and bath! So do this when you are just getting clean and have no place special to go afterward you shower and dress).

Keep these in your bathroom:  (Use a bucket or container you already have! Do not buy a bunch of new stuff-Check if you already have these things in your house. Chances are you already do!

  1. 1 Spray bottle solution of ONLY water, white vinegar, baking soda for a safe bathroom cleaner. (Mix 2/3 cups of baking soda, 3 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 cup of water,  a few drops of soap in a small bowl, then pour into your spray bottle).

NOTE: DO NOT USE AMMONIA or BLEACH AT ALL! DO NOT MIX these together OR with other cleaning products. It is NOT SAFE to breathe in or mix these chemicals together while cleaning!

NOTE: Any liquid dish soap, body wash or shampoo you no longer use. (Do not use expensive soap. Your old shampoo is good enough to clean).

  • 1 Plastic cup, small bucket or container for rinsing sink, shower and tub.
  • 1 Cleaning sponge ( try one with a scrubbing side and a smooth side)
  • 1 Dry rag.

5 Minutes to Clean a Bathroom, Part 2

Sink: (Takes 1 min; Do before you shower)

  • After using your sink to brush teeth and/or wash your face, wet the sponge and use a tiny bit of the soap to wipe down the sink.
  • Rinse soap and wipe sink again with only water.  Your muscles do the work, not the soap, so just use a small amount. Done!

Shower walls: (Takes 2 mins)

  • Turn shower ON and take your shower. Make sure you stand on a shower mat while showering so you do not slip!  Be sure to wet the shower walls with water as you wash up and rinse off.
  • Remain in the shower and spray the shower walls and tub with your spray bottle solution. Let solution sit for 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn the shower water off. Wet smooth side of sponge with water and wipe down the shower walls. Do Not Scrub-Be Quick and simply wipe solution off the walls.
  • Fill plastic container with water and rinse walls. Done!

Tub: (Takes 2 mins)

  • Wet the scrubbing side of the sponge and use a tiny bit of the soap to wipe down the still-wet tub.
  • Wipe and rinse any tub accessories you use (plastic or metal hair-catcher, tub stopper, etc.) as water drains down the tub.
  • Rinse out the tub with clean water.
  • Wipe up any excess water with the dry rag. Hang the rubber shower mat to dry.
